Kooralbyn Valley MTB Park
Overview
Kooralbyn Valley MTB Park is a volunteer-resurrected mountain bike destination in Queensland's Scenic Rim, sitting on the Kooralbyn Valley Resort property in the Gold Coast hinterland (~1.5 hr drive south-west of Brisbane). It is widely cited as Queensland's "fastest growing" MTB club and runs a packed calendar of downhill, gravity enduro, XC endurance and dual-slalom events through the cooler months.
The site has serious heritage: the original Kooralbyn trails hosted national-level events through the 1990s and early 2000s and were used as a training base for the Australian MTB team — Cadel Evans raced here at the 2001 National XCO Titles. The trails went idle when the resort closed in 2008 and were lost to regrowth for the better part of a decade. They were rebuilt and re-opened by a volunteer crew operating as the Kooralbyn Valley Mtn Bike Club Inc., now formally co-operating with the resort to run the venue.
The network is now ~24 trails (13 of which are catalogued in our DB, including signature lines like Black Snake DH, Nemesis, Mavericks and the double-black Mandalorian) across green through double-black diamond. Terrain is dirt and rock — punchy short climbs, technical descents, berms, bridges, drops, gap jumps, rock gardens, skinnies, and a "famous" wall ride. It's dusty and loose when dry, and the southern aspect of much of the network means it dries faster than the wetter areas closer to the Border Ranges.

History & Background
- Pre-2008: The original Kooralbyn trails were a national-level MTB venue used for racing and as an Australian MTB team training base. Cadel Evans raced the 2001 National XCO Titles here.
- 2008: Kooralbyn Resort closed; trails fell out of maintenance and were reclaimed by regrowth.
- ~2017 onwards: Local riders began clearing, rebuilding and extending the network.
- The Kooralbyn Valley Mtn Bike Club Inc. was formed to formalise the rebuild in partnership with the (re-opened) Kooralbyn Valley Resort, with the stated goal of restoring Kooralbyn to one of Australia's premier MTB destinations.
- Now hosts an annual Kooralbyn Bike Festival (slopestyle, GE, DH, dual slalom, whip off, e-bike race) and the multi-round Kooralbyn MTB Endurance Series, plus rounds of the Renegade Gravity Enduro Series and Outlaw Downhill Series.
