Lake Mountain Alpine Resort
Overview
Lake Mountain is a primarily Nordic / cross-country ski resort that opens up in summer for 80+ km of mountain bike trails, dominated by the Cascades trail — a 30 km descent from the summit (~1,480 m) all the way to Marysville in the valley below, listed as one of Victoria's best descent trails [1, 4]. Operations are free to access in green season (no resort entry fee), with the only paid component being shuttles back to the summit operated from Peppers Hotel in Marysville.
The mountain offers a mix of single track, machine-built flow, gravity, cross-country and gravel riding spread across the broader trail network. The Home Trails network around the summit is short-loop / beginner-friendly (Trigger Track, Lenny's Loop, Lower Granite Grind, Ski Run 21), while the Cascades is the destination ride.
