Linga Longa Bike Park

Overview

Linga Longa Bike Park is Western Australia's premier private gravity-focused mountain bike park, sitting on a 700-acre family-owned estate of private forest and rolling hills along the Blackwood River near Balingup, in the South West region. The park is built into a valley with around 200 metres of vertical descent on offer — by WA standards, a serious gravity venue — and is best known for hand-built downhill and enduro trails, a jump-line skills park with progressive wooden drops, and a tight, committed roster of double-black trails alongside a small handful of green and blue options for less experienced riders [1][2][6].

Unlike most council or DBCA trail networks in WA, Linga Longa is on private property and is not open for general access. The park only operates on scheduled "Gravity Days", events (notably WA Gravity Enduro rounds), and private booking days, and riding the park outside those windows is strictly prohibited [1][3]. A shuttle bus is run by the operator on those days — private shuttling is banned — and ride passes are sold online via the park's website [1][9].

The estate was reclaimed by the Eaton family and friends from 2012 onwards, and the bike park grew organically from a handful of private hand-built trails into a full park after WA Gravity Enduro Round 6 was hosted there in October 2015. Three Chillies Design carried out major earthworks across 2017–2021, and Sam Hill was directly involved in designing and shaping the original downhill trail Rocket Rock [4][7].

Location & Access

Best Season & Conditions

The park's primary operating window is autumn through spring (roughly Mar–Nov), aligned with the gravity-enduro calendar and cooler southern temperatures. The valley location is noted for being cold overnight — competitors at WAGE events are explicitly told to pack extra warm gear [8].

Summer operations are limited; the South West fire-danger season constrains scheduling, and the park does not advertise summer gravity days. The "open only on scheduled days" model means there is no off-season trail wear from general public access — surfaces are typically in better shape than free-access networks.

Riders should consult the park's Public Gravity Days calendar before planning a trip.

History & Background

The estate also operates as a destination wedding venue (Linga Longa Estate) — the same property is used dual-purpose [10].
