Sugar Bag Rd MTB Trails
Overview
Sugar Bag Road Mountain Bike Park (locally "The Bag" or "Sugarbag") is a compact (~0.5 km²) suburban trail centre in Caloundra West on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, with around 15 km of singletrack squeezed onto a former piece of disused bushland. The network spans roughly 13–15 named trails from green to double-black diamond and is best known for its density of over 60 timber features — bridges, see-saws, log rollovers, ramps, wall rides and a progressive jump line — built by the Caloundra Off Road Cycling Association (CORCA) on land managed by Sunshine Coast Council. (Source counts vary: CORCA lists 13; Visit Sunshine Coast counts 21; council adventure database treats the pump track as a separate "trail".)
Although the elevation is modest (~45 m of relief), the layout sessions like Stromlo: ride to a feature, drop in, ride back. Trail names follow a candy theme (Willy Wonka, Sweet Sugar, Syrup, Rocky Road, Party Mix, Beez Kneez). The trailhead is shared with Sugar Bag Road Town Reserve, which adds an asphalt pump track (the Sunshine Coast's first), a fenced playground, picnic shelters, BBQs, an on-site café and a dual-slalom track / black-diamond skills park — making it one of the most family-friendly MTB venues in QLD.
